After the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, is putting on a show to take over Gotham’s criminal underworld. Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti talk about how they got their start during the making of Penguin. Colin Farrell fought hard to get his own version of “Penguin Smoking Tobacco” in Batman (2022), but he didn’t get it. However, in his own series, the character is depicted as an occasional tobacco user, preferring cigars.
I’ve never seen Farrell so invested in a character
An umbrella falls and the logo is replaced with the Warner Bros. logo. Graham Norton and the cast: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). So, the first episode is done, and it was great.
He is a New York mobster, a wise guy
Yes, he’s wearing a thick suit, but you’d never know it. His attitude, body language, voice make you immerse yourself in the character and see only the Penguin. He is not related to any of the other live-action Penguins Burgess Meredith or Robin Lord Taylor. He is Scorsese’s mobster, but without the sleazy language.
Very entertaining and highly recommended
The plot is simple, similar to Lord Taylor’s Penguin on the CW’s Gotham. The Penguin is a middle man in a mafia organization. Up until now, he has been biding his time, slowly moving into the crowd, and then when a riddle blows up the city’s sea wall and his boss is killed in that movie, he sees an opportunity to move up in the world. Now begins the game of cross, double cross and, I guess, triple cross.
