For someone who didn’t really know the story, the details of what happened really kept me interested
Narrative
During the 1972 Munich Olympics, an American TV crew finds themselves immersed in covering the hostage crisis involving Israeli athletes. The performances are all believable, the comedy is in the right places, and the pace and length of the film don’t make you glance towards the exit before the credits roll.
They did a solid job of not telegraphing plot points
Some may find the lack of scenery changes tiresome, but I think it worked in this case. I think they wanted you to feel like the control room is your world and feel what they were feeling that day.
Making you think, without preaching
They handled the political and emotional elements brilliantly. The mix of footage from the actual event, including broadcast footage as well, definitely draws you more into the experience.
A nice touch
While this isn’t a movie I really intend to watch over and over again, it’s a very well-made movie that I would recommend to friends who enjoy movies like this.
